How to setup different item pricing for Dine In customers & Takeaway customers

Hi All,

I have a restaurant where we have DINE IN option and TAKEAWAY option.

We take orders via phone and walkin customers.

How can I setup 2 different pricing on POS for DINE IN & TAKEAWAY  ?

Hi @G4rohit - Thanks for reaching out to us here on the Square Seller Community with your question👋

If you aren't already, you can utilize Dining Options to mark the order as to-go/takeaway. If your items will have a different price associated, based on dining option, you can either create two separate items (one for dine in, one for takeaway) or you could create a modifier or variation of the item to signify that it's takeaway. Since you are using Square for Restaurants, another option would be to create a separate menu for takeaway items.

I hope this information is helpful but please do let me know if you have any additional questions.

Hi G4ROHIT.  As suggested by Violet, we essentially have two menus for this exact purpose - a dine in menu and a take away menu.  We have all our items duplicated being one for dine in and one for take away.  That way we can price them differently.

For example -

Dine in item: Fried rice with chicken $20.00

Take away item: Fried rice with chicken T/A $18.00

We then obviously put the dine in items on the dine in menu and the take away items on the take away menu.  Note that we put T/A on the end of all take away items so the kitchen docket prints the T/A and the kitchen crew know that it has to be packed in a box rather than dished onto a plate.  This is particularly useful for when dine in customers order dine in meals AND a take away meal (so we send the boxed take away meal to the table for the customer to take home when they finish up).

Hope this makes sense.
