Does square register count as a device in square for restaurant plus if we also have an iPad?

We have a Square Register and a Square Stand with iPad. We want to upgrade to Square Restaurant Plus. But, Plus is not supported on the Register. Do we have to pay for it as a second device when it’s not supported or do we only get charged for the one supported device (the Square Stand?)

Although the Square Register does not have all of the Plus features available for use yet, if you want to use Square for Restaurants on it, you will be charged for using the Square Register as a device.
