Customer profiles & Delivery

I operate a very busy quick service sandwich, pizza shop and delivery is a big part of it and a lot of it is done over the phone. Yes we do a lot of online business but the majority is phone orders. Our biggest issue is adding customers info to the orders over the phone we have to type in every single persons address, phone, name etc in the name section on the check so it doesn’t disappear when the customer pays. If you put the info in the notes for some reason notes go away on the receipt once paid for. Has square thought about catering to delivery based shops that take phone orders I get they push for online which we do a bunch but there’s still a lot of people and big offices that can’t use the online ordering. I would love if there was a way that we could type in a customers phone number and a saved customer would pop up and we could attach to a check it would speed up orders tremendously! We loose alot of orders due to phone being busy while taking orders. So my question is am I missing something or has square come out with anything that I’m not aware of? How do other people do over the phone orders for delivery? Maybe there is no other way it just seems like our current way we are almost cheating the system to make it work unfortunately. Navigating this situation can be challenging since there isn't a specific order flow tailored for this type of customer. However, there are a few important points to consider regarding your current workaround of entering information into the Notes section.

Firstly, while this information won't appear on printed receipts, you can still access it through the Square app by navigating to the payment from your Transactions page. The reason it doesn't display is because the Notes field is primarily intended to assist staff and isn't intended for public viewing.

Alternatively, you can record customer details in your Customer Directory. This feature allows you to create customer profiles and assign them to sales. However, similar to notes, customer information such as phone numbers and physical addresses won't appear on the receipt; only the customer's name will be visible. To access their details, you would need to view their profile in your Customer Directory.


What I recommend is submitting a feature request for over-the-phone order functionality. This would allow you to convey your specific requirement for a dedicated order flow tailored for this type of customer. By submitting a feature request, you can provide detailed feedback on the functionality you're looking for, helping us better understand and address your needs. You can do this by navigating to the Ideate board for Square for Restaurants.
