Do credit card fees get automatically added or do you have to manually add these to a sale?
We are starting a new business and have purchased a square terminal to ring sales. I cannot find the answer regarding how the credit card fees get added or if we have to manually add the fee to each transaction. Seems quite complicated if we have to figure out how to charge the fee + $.10 or $.15 to each type of transaction. I’m hoping that the fees are automatically added to the customer.
Thank you for the suggestion. I had read that support page but unfortunately cannot find the detail on the fees there, whether or not we have to add them to the customer or if they are automatically charged with the transaction.
Are you trying to charge the processing fee back to the customer? By default Square deducts the credit card fee from the money you receive for the purchase but doesn't charge it to the customer. If you're trying to charge it back to the customer you can probably achieve something similar by using the Service Charge function documented here.
