Connecting an External "Mirror" Screen to Square Register

Our team has been using an iPad connected to an external 27" monitor (via HDMI cable) -- as a screen mirror -- to create a non-touch KDS display of sorts. It's worked well for our restaurant operations.

We were excited to adopt the Square Register hardware so that we could have a "true" Square experience as well as a customer facing order confirmation / CC terminal / etc.

However, we do not seem to be able to regain the functionality of the "screen mirroring" from our POS to the external monitor.  😞  This is a deal breaker as we have become heavily reliant on the homemade KDS screen/monitor.

Is there a means of purchasing any hardware, using a USB to HDMI adapter (that works w/ Android/Square Register), etc. that anyone might suggest as a confirmed solution to this problem? Any canned/official statements aside, I'm looking for any hardware or software workarounds that could help us here.

Thanks so much!

@burrito I can mirror an android screen using google home and a google chromecast and we do that quite well.  The only problem you would run into is the custom android version used for the square register.

You could get a square terminal and they have a new feature where it can be connected (wirelessly) to the ipad POS for payments and keep doing what you are doing and still have a customer screen to take payments that way.  It is an awesome little set up.

The other option you could look at is just adding KDS to your account for your orders and have it hooked up just like you did before with an ipad.

We ended up returning the Square Register and reverting back to our iPad-based registers. I found no hardware that was compatible w/ the USB ports that would allow plugging in an external monitor... and the locked-down Android-based SQ Regsiter software would not allow us to fire up a Chromecast solution. What we were using (prior to the SQ Register experiment) is now once again working nicely.... albeit we do not have the guest facing touch display (bummer).

Thanks @Donnie-M for the suggestion in the meantime!
