Why do image names change when i upload?
I just spent an hour renaming item pictures on my PC to make it easier to add them to the correct items in my POS inventory. After uploading the pictures, the names all change back to the original non descriptive names assigned by the camera.
Why?

I can't speak for how Square's system could change files names back to their original file names - that would be something for another episode of the "Unexplained". What I can tell you is that Square has made a few improvements to the Image Library. After you login to your Square Account Dashboard:
Select Items & Orders
Select Items
Select Image Library
Once there you should see all of your Uploaded Image Items with their names displayed. If you select an item, you can Edit Name and add Alt Text, if you select Actions, you can download the image or delete it. In the past we could do none of that as once an image was uploaded, that was it - it's good to see the improvements and that Square does look at Feature Requests.
If you already have gone through all of these steps before you posted your concern, then at least you know you have the options to make changes.

I am sorry you have had this issue, but I think you may have uploaded the wrong files to Square. For Square to rename the files to the original name, Square would have had to know your original name of said file(s). I have changed the Datetime format of my images to the SKU/GTIN name I use with Square to save my images to Square and they did not change at all from that. Now I have used my Pictures folder to upload pictures from my camera, opened the file saved it to a New name, and my lovely Windows Desktop then saves my picture to Quick Access File folder Pictures Location with the New name that I can not find right away and have uploaded the wrong files already to either Square Quickbooks or as an attachement to an email. Wondering if that may have happened to you?
