The title of this thread has been edited by a Square Moderator from the original: Is there a way to track avg items per sale?
I am trying to figure out if there is a way to have Square automatically track avg items per sale for certain periods of time- without having to go in and do it manually
Hi @kitch2, welcome to the Square Community. We appreciate your post!
At this time, there is not a function within Square POS that automatically tracks average items per sale. There is a Inventory Sell-through report which shows the average number of a specific item that is sold per month, but not per sale.
I would recommend adding your idea as a Feature Request on our Ideate platform though! Ideate is a helpful place to get any new ideas or improvements for Square products out there in a public forum.
Hopefully this is a bit helpful! Please let us know if you end up having any other questions in the meantime.

@kitch2 ;
Square usually does things by $$ amounts so an average of Items per Sale would not be quickly available inside of Square.
2 options for you,
Here is more about looking into Squares API documents : https://developer.squareup.com/reference/square
This would require time to set it up but once its setup it should be a lot easier for you.
@kitch2 I would use a custom report and set it up with just the "key statistics" & the "Category Sales " Then you can quickly set the time period and do the items sold/transactions and both numbers will be right there for you. There is a way to set up a custom report using a webhook integration or you could export to a spreadsheet and set up a macro to do it quickly.
Not exactly what you are looking for but 80% there.
