Hi-
I'm using the contactless reader to accept payments while working in the field. In the past few years (when we were using the older plug-in reader), the tips were combined with the signature page.
Now, with the new contactless reader, the tips are separated into its own page. It's an embarassing, in-your-face tip page that makes it look like we're begging for tips. When it was combined with the signature page before, it was much more subtle.
I have "Separate tipping screen" unchecked in my settings. I have "Collect signatures" checked as well. Neither of these settings do what they're supposed to.
I contacted Square about this, and they basically said "you're out of luck, this is the way it is". Does anyone else have a solution to this? I'm looking at other processors/services now, just to avoid Square's in-your-face tip page.
I refuse to force my customers into guilt tipping. I know consumers are getting burned out wtih this, and it doesn't help that Square took away the more subtle option.

Can you please check to see if your device and phone/tablet are up-to-date? I have not heard of anyone else bringing this up, but I'm happy to look into this further for you.
Can you also recall when this first started happening? Was it when you switched devices, or after an automatic update?

Thanks for the reply. I'm running the latest iOS version (17.3) with the latest version of Square (6.35). I didn't notice the change until I switched from the plug-in (lightening) swipe reader (the one that's free), to the contactless one.
Unfortunately, I know I'm not alone. I've read quite a few reddit threads, where people are no longer seeing the "combined" tip and signature page.
Thanks for the additional information. I reached out to the product team to see if this is expected behavior, or (likely) a bug. I'll let you know as soon as I hear back from them.

I feel you on this one... without the signature screen, if i ask my customers if they would like to tip they look at me like im an Ahole... BRING BACK THE SIGNATURE SCREEN!
Thanks @Curbsidecreamer - I'm glad to hear others have the same thoughts.
Unfortunately, we've lost a LOT of tip money because of this. When I present the customer with my phone, I bypass the tip screen and go straight to the signature page. It was too intrusive, and didn't look good for our business. I've started looking at alternative ways to collect money, where I don't guilt trip them into tipping.
The sad thing, is that 80% of our customers were tipping using the old method. Now we don't get tips, because I bypass it. I hope Square takes a real hard look at this, and changes things.
I get it... i run an ice cream truck in a relatively poor town. So alot of my customers dont tip to begin with, when i ask them to leave a tip i get dirty looks. With the signature sceen it gave me a way to put the tip screen in front of the without screaming tip me
