I love the tap to pay feature on iPhones and it has been working fairly well. However, I seem to run into problems when the customer is using a metal credit card. Has anyone else run into that? Is there a trick to where and how to hold the card to make it tap? Specifically, I've noticed it with the Chase Sapphire visa. It will only tap about 20% of the time and I have to hold it for close to 30+ for it to work.
If anyone knows of a method to make it work, please share!
@mfrulandthanks for your question. They only suggestion I can offer is to try tapping with both the front and back of the card and see if one side works best. There may be a thin layer of metal on one side which could block the tap reader, but the other side should be plastic (or less shielded) where the chip is located.
I agree with @HC_Charlie as I have not had a big issue with Tap to pay working with Metal Cards. My customers with the Metal cards also do not just tap it in one location they are moving their card around or even try Flipping it over. This is why I am agreeing that have your customers with the Cards in question try moving them on the Tap reader or Flip the Cards over too.
