I'm inquiring about any experience anybody has had with using a QR for self-service products. I have a small fashion jewelry business with my product placed in a Hair Salon in my town. The owner of the salon has been super accommodating and let me set up a small area for my products.
I have QR codes for my earrings and another QR code for my necklaces as they are two different prices. I've only had 1 sale via Square since October and 5 via cash as the customers have no idea how to use a QR code and in fact Android phones won't play well with the QR codes. The Salon owner, nor their receptionist has time to walk through the process with the customers telling them they need to open their phone, point their camera etc... in order to purchase. The salon owner is requesting I pick up my items as the sales weren't what she hoped they would be. She's getting 20% of all sales as agreed for allowing me to be in her shop. I can tell you my in-person sales are great, so I know the product is liked and sells - just odd with the self-service type of issue and the fear of a QR code.
I've lost sales because of this. Is there a "printable" 4 step "card" I could place by my QR codes with Square branding so the customers will trust the process?
I'm at a loss. The same goes for my craft shows. I have QR codes up, and invariably a customer hands me their credit card for my card reader or hands me cash.
Thanks
I think it's very hard for self-service no matter what the product. I do think people need a bit of hand holding... is there any way the salon manager can check people out instead?
We use QR codes also. I don't know what the age range of your customer base is, but we do notice our younger customers scan the code with no hesitation. But the older customers need a little instructions and assurance.
