Looking for a Square Stand with Lightning Connection

Can we normalize not having to upgrade every year I've been with square for several years. I use a square stand 2nd generation. My tablet size is 9.7 thr lightening charging port has decided to stop working I have no plans to upgrade my tablet and incur more debt. I'm desperately looking for a square stand to accommodate my tablet and my business

Hello @Polly2025 !

 

Since Square has stopped manufacturing the lightning port stands, I recommend checking out Facebook Marketplace, eBay, or the like to see if someone is selling theirs. 

 

Aside from hardware failures--which will be a problem regardless of what hardware or provider you use-- you usually don't have to upgrade your devices on a regular basis. Yes, the Gen 1 Registers and Terminals are being phased out, but that hardware is quite a few years old now and it's due to be retired, but they will still work for day to day usage. 

 

You may also want to consider looking at your cell phone plan: a lot of times you can add a tablet to your existing plan. For me, I feel paying the $20-30/month for two years and then turning it back in to upgrade to the latest is worth the additional debt.

Hello, @Polly2025 and thank you for your post. My name is Violet and I'm one of the Moderators here in the Square Community. Nice to meet you. I can certainly provide some additional information about the older and newer models of the Square Stand.

As Ryan mentioned, Square no longer sells or manufactures the Square Stand (2nd generation, v1) that features a Lightning iPad connector. However, we will continue to provide updates and troubleshooting support for this Square Stand. The latest version of Square Stand (2nd generation, v2) features a USB-C iPad connector and is compatible with several newer iPad models. Since we no longer sell the Stand model you're looking for, you'd have to purchase second-hand from another Square Seller, or a site like Amazon or eBay. There is a Square Seller Facebook group that some folks are in, and you could also try asking there. (@ryanwanner not sure if you're in this group and could invite Polly?)

If you happen to change your mind, you can purchase a new Square Stand, along with a compatible iPad and other supported hardware from the Square ShopIf you're interested, you could also apply for Square hardware financing. Our hardware financing option is flexible and allows you to purchase Square hardware and pay for it in monthly installments. You can find more details, here, in our Support Center.

FYI Violet, the support of stands with lightning cable in my experience is "It's not that stand's issue, but the other hardware".  Except it's not.

 

I am going thru issues with printers and till drawers not working, Square is claiming it's the till drawers and printers themselves, but low and behold, get a new Square Register, and they work perfectly! 

 

Have been trying to work thru these issues for 3 years, and INTENSIVELY try and work thru them for 9 months, but alas, still awaiting help. I love Square, but they have really dropped the ball here for me. 

 

Including my Square Account Manager promising to contact me last Friday, I reach out today, to find they are out of office for two weeks.
