Having trouble changing settings on sales tax

Hi guys.

I would like to change my sales tax settings so that the GST amount is shown at checkout. At the moment it is only showing total amount. I have set the “include tax in item price” toggle to off but then the app won’t allow me to save it. I don’t know if it has anything to do with how i’ve set up “items” as i am a service providig business and i am not actually selling physical items. Hope someone can help me because i am just about done with this app.

Hey there @Toolate,

Sorry to hear you're running into this issue!

You can apply Sales Taxes to both items and services created within your Item Library, so we wouldn't expect the items you have created to be excluded in this case. What you've described certainly sounds a little glitchy to me. 

I wonder if we try to amend these settings from your online Square Dashboard instead if that resolves the issue for us. To do this, follow the steps below:

1. Navigate to your Account & Settings page. 
2. Select Business Information > Sales Taxes. Select the tax you are wanting to edit.
3. Toggle OFF the option to Include tax in the item price. Select Save.

Thanks Laurie. That seemed to do the trick, but i still had to change the sales tax on the POS app after also before it would work. Would be good if the settings just carried over from the website onto the app.

Thanks for giving that a try, @Toolate, I'm glad to hear it's working as expected now.

The changes you make on your POS app and your online Square Dashboard should certainly sync to the respective platform instantly. If you're noticing this is not occurring on a regular basis, there may be a few other things we can look to troubleshoot, such as network connection.
