I was recently advised by cash app that I needed to create a cash app for business account. Once created they would charge 2.75% per transaction. I know square offers cash app as a payment option, so will we be charged the 2.75% plus the fee from cash app plus the fee square charges if we use the in app cash app payment?? Just trying to figure out if I’m going to discontinue the use of cash app. The fees are killer!! @Members
Hey @RichRootz. Cash App is another form of payment, separate from a card payment type. You are charged the Cash App fee for payments your customers make using their Cash App accounts. Or you are charged the card processing fee for payments your customers make using a physical card or contactless payments. As for the fees, we’ve always added an extra 3% to our menu prices to cover the fact that most people don’t pay cash anymore. Yes, this means that everyone pays that extra, including cash customers. But in 12 years of business I’ve not gotten even one question about this. No one notices and I’ve never actually paid Square fees since my customers do, as they should. Fees don’t have to be killer, as long as we are creative as business owners.
Follow up, in case it wasn’t clear. We are only charged the Cash App fee OR the card processing fee. Never both.
