I have been trying to upgrade to a cordless barcode scanner for my stores. I purchased the Honeywell 1472g as recommended twice and neither of them worked. It shows connected and recognized in square, but gives an error sound when trying to scan barcodes. There was no set up instructions and tech support was no help. Just kept saying "it should be working". I don't like the idea of having to replace batteries in the Socket Mobile 700 scanner. Has anyone found a compatible wireless scanner with a charging base that actually works? I have a square stand with an iPad for POS.

Hey @encsportscards
That sounds frustrating, especially after trying multiple scanners without success. The Honeywell 1472g connects via USB, not wirelessly, which means it should work reliably when plugged into a compatible device. If you're using Square Stand, you’ll need to connect it through the USB hub on the power cord.
As @Candlestore mentioned above, our support resources include all compatible barcode scanners for Square Stand.
If you're looking for a wireless option, we also offer a Bluetooth and cordless scanner in the Square Shop that works with Square Stand.

Some scanners require a scan sheet to calibrate to the type of system and barcode you are using. I used the socket mobile and it was rechargeable and enjoyed it while i used it, however i upgraded to SquarePOS from Square Stand and now I am however hard wired to my POS and do not use wireless

I've also used the Socket barcode scanner that @JTPets mentioned. I never had issues with that one. The only thing I didn't like was how small it was...I loose things way, way too easily. lol
I second that it might need to be calibrated!

I use the DS2208 which shows in Square as the DS6707, and I also us the DS6878 which also shows as a DS6707 in Square. These are both USB type scanners that read both 1D and 2D barcodes. The big difference is the DS2208 is fully wired from usb port to the scanner, where as the DS6707 is USB to a cradle then wireless to the Scanner. So no cables to get caught while scanning. These both work off of the Return to Factory Settings with Square. The DS6878 uses rechargable batteries for the Scanner to Cradle, and the Cradle charges the batteries.
The DS2208 is anywhere from $42 on ebay to $175 at Uline. I bought somewhere inbetween from Amazon Refurbished.
The Ds6878 is anywhere from $30 on ebay to $562 from PC Liquidations. Make sure you get Scanner, Cradle and the USB cord.
I bought the $87 amazon refurbished model.
I like the DS6878 more so because it is Wireless to the Cradle, and can actually be programmed to work by Bluetooth so no cradle or Cables in the warehouse if I just take my Ipad and scan to set the scanner to Bluetooth mode. * these instructions did NOT come with the scanner* I downloaded the PDF manual from Zebra. Both the above mentioned scanners are about 7 inches long and about 3.5 inches at their widest point. Not easy to place in a pocket and forget about.
Here is more which Scanners should be compatibe with Square and your POS system..
