slow website loading

I have an ecommerce store for local delivery or in store pickup.  Page load times seem excessive when going to pages that have a lot of product; website analysis tools confirm that.  There are thousands of images that I get through my distributors for pictures of their products.  Does Weebly resize (ie make them less kb) small images or is it the full size image displayed smaller?  I do not see any type of standardization for product galleries, outside of image ratio.  On wix, I can do this to decrease page load times.

I am trying to eliminate having to go back in, resize product images, and re upload 1000+ products.

Here is an example of slow load times:  https://www.fetched-up.com/shop/dog/30

Thanks.

So I checked out your site, and it does seem to load slow.  That is a given.  In this day in age, a slow loading site can be the difference between a sale or no sale.

I ran your site through GTmetrix and the numbers seem good, but the largest were payment icons in .png format.  I'm not sure if that is something that is pre loaded by Square or not.  I would think if it were pre loaded by square they would change that format to jpg, or jpeg?  Are you able to change those, or even try to turn those off and re run your site and see if load times improve?

Your images seem to be around 450x600 which is a normal, and are webp format so that is good.  Not sure if they can be compressed via Square somehow either to save.

Sorry not a whole lot of useful information from me since i don't use Square for my site.  I would try those suggestions and see.  If those don't load, it could just be slow servers on Squares end, and you would have to wait until they make the updates and changes.

I'm having this same problem. I'm new to the online store aspect of Square, but I can't understand why they would allow certain images but then not reduce them as needed if that were the problem. Also, why accept different image types if it can't handle displaying them? I also have a lot of variations, also allowed by the store, however, I think it might be adding to the problem. If they don't figure this out, there may be a lot of people moving on from Square. I really want to like it; it's simple enough, but it's being a real pain. If I were a customer shopping my store, I wouldn't even have the patience for it.

I’m having the same issue.  Now some of my pictures aren’t loading.  It’s very frustrating.  It would be nice to have access to the code.

Hello @Saec50,

Welcome to The Seller Community! I hate to hear you are running into this as well. Can you share the URL for your website? I will investigate this further.

What items is this happening on? When we test on our end we are not experiencing slow load loading @Saec50.

We are also having this issue with www.wearediscin.com the page load is really slow, especially for mobile.  I used Diib and it seems to be caused by the images.  Has anyone found a way to fix this?

Thank Yoiu

I ran your site through GTMetrix (didn't try mobile test via google speed test), but it seems you have a large layout shift that is effecting a good performance part.

As for the images, are they sized correctly according to your site specs prior to being uploaded?  I'm not sure if Square Online supports it, but bonus points if they can be uploaded in webp format.
