We recently switched to Square online for our restaurant. Prior to this we have used an app for several years. Our tips used to run 10-15% on our app and now they are virtually non-existent. Our customers tell us all of the time they cannot tip on the online store. Of course, this is not true because we definitely have tipping enabled (we have checked repeatedly), but the "option" is so small and customers must "seek" out the choice to tip and go through multiple steps, so it is frequently missed altogether. I have personally ordered from so many online platforms where a tipping option is presented SO clearly I could not miss it if I tried (think Jimmy Johns here!). Square / Weebly, PLEASE fix this so our Team can make the tips they deserve!
@JulieO1 We looked at how tipping worked and we went with the "opt out" method of tipping. We enabled 10% by default that is automatically added to the check and then the customer can take that off. It is much faster and much more consistent. I am thinking about upping our % to be honest for the staff. If tipping is that common for you, the customers that don't want to pay will take it off.
