Moving from Shopify to Square Online?

The title of this thread has been edited by a Square Moderator from the original: "Trying to decide if I change to square website"

Hi, I'm Lisa.  Years ago we used the square reader when we did craft shows and sold embroidered towels.  We are getting back into doing embroidery again and want to also have a website.  I was with Shopify but they have an app (more money) for every extra feature it seems so I want to know if square has the ability for:

1. Wish lists for customers

2. have reviews

3. have different quantities available for different colors/sizes of shirts

4. have a blog

5. have a page where you can have a list of craft shows you will be at

Thank you for your replies,

Lisa

Hello @EmbroideryGal thanks for your post, and welcome to the Square Community! We're so glad you're here!

I think Square's online website will allow you everything on your list, with the exception of a Wish List. You could setup an email link or form to solicit suggestions from your customers, but it depends on how you may want a Wish List to actually work.

If you setup your item inventory for items you sell, you can  list specific items, colors, and quantities available for sale. You can sync inventory between online website sales and in-person craft show events, so when you sell an item, you can add it to your sale and it will reduce your inventories.

You can also set up any page on your website with information you choose to write, whether it is a blog of articles or photos, or a list of upcoming events. Square's free website offers most anything you may want to do, but check out the link below for specifics about upgrades to websites and what they would offer your business as you grow.

Again, welcome to the Square Community. I think you'll find this a great place to get help with Square products, as well as network with fellow small business owners.

Thank you. The wish list isn't a deal breaker so we'll be working on setting up our store next week.

Hi Lisa. I use Square for both an online shop and in-person market events. I also created a full page to list my  Events. I have a Blog (called Stories in Square). If you have a blog hosted outside of Square, it allows for RSS feed, but otherwise, Stories are not RSS. I haven't found an option for customers to create Wish Lists but you might be able to create a manual list in the customer record on the back end. I haven't sorted thru the logistics of that. I use the Square app on my ipad or iphone at events. Also, to note, I don't use the free version. Visit my site. It's a work in progress.

Thanks @EmbroideryGal One more thing I wanted to add is that, even though Square will sync inventory, online and when I'm at in-person events, I pause the online site for the days I'm at the markets. It's probably not necessary but I do it just in case there might be a purchase overlap. And I add a banner on the website indicating I'm at an event. Just unpause it as soon as the event is over and I'm confident the inventory has been appropriately removed. Most of my items are one of a kind so many don't even make it to the online shop.
