Hi! Does anyone know how to change the name that appears before any Google search result linked to my store?
I've highlighted what I would like to change here:
Thank you!
Hi there @rhysmith.. You should be able to change this from your web dashboard > Online > Website > SEO. In the first section, click the "Update SEO" button and change your site title. Note there are all sorts of other SEO things you might want to review and update to help search engines drive traffic to your website.
I've had the same problem for years, and sadly this fix does not work for me. My Google results show my url instead of what is listed in the Update SEO section for site title.
@wordhorde I just looked at my Google listing and saw the exact thing. Very odd. I'm going to tag the Square Moderators so that they can consult the team about this.
@Kassi_@RSosebee1@_Violet@MayaP@Summer2024@Summer2024@Ellie_@Katie_SQ@Laurie_@Sammie_CSee my screen shots below. The first is from my SEO settings, and if you look at "Search Result Preview" box, my site title is "Piper's Ice Cream Bar" which that preview says is going to be seen in my Google listing. However, if you look at the second screen shot you can see that instead of "Piper's Ice Cream Bar" the site title is showing only my URL. Can one of you check with the engineers to figure out what's going on?
I assume you haven't heard any response to this issue?
Nothing. Let me escalate this is a private forum I'm a member of, and when I hear something I'll let you know.
Hey @wordhorde , @rhysmith
Have you tried viewing results in incognito browser? IF so are you seeing the same results?
Secondly, is your site URL the same xxx.square.site or do you have your own domain example mybusiness.com?
If it is the square.site I am wondering if there may be limitations of URL/SEO due to the package/plan that you are on (wild guess there, I don't use Square online so just spit firing here)
Let us know!
We have our own domain name, and we are on the paid plan.

what is your URL @wordhorde
weirdandfantastic.com

Thank you. So it does look like its showing properly for me in an incognito browser.
Nope, that's still just showing the URL at the top. See circled area.
Ahh fidget spinner! I clearly don't want to use my eyes to their potential this morning, sorry. And to clarify, you have the same SEO settings as @TheRealChipA displayed earlier in your SEO section correct?
That's correct.
Okay thanks. Do you mind trying one thing here @wordhorde . Could you removing the SEO title and click Save, then pull up your site in an incognito browser and see if that changes anything.
After that, simply put it back and click Save again and test the results.
Downfalls of not having a Square site its hard for me to see what they have in there for settings. I truly think that your site itself needs the cache purged (not just browser). There is a way to do that by connecting to Cloudflare (I've used it for years). Many benefits to it including loading times, whitelisting etc.
But let me know if you can try those steps above the results when you can.
You can't leave it blank. If you remove the SEO title and Save, Square changes it to Home.
Chip seemed to get his to display correctly in (non-mobile) Safari without an actual site cache purge, so it's a puzzle.

Yeah that is what is puzzling here for sure. Just for S&G's , could you change that to something close .and save it and see if it populates anything in the correct space.
Do you do a lot of site changes on your end or no? Site changes as in daily changes or quite a few times a week changes/
I do site changes about once a week (featured category on front page mostly).
I actually did try changing it earlier today. When I went in to verify the settings and get a screenshot, I noticed it said Home, so I changed it to Word Horde Emporium of the Weird & Fantastic. Didn't seem to make a difference.

So,I searched that title, and I scrolled down a bit, is this your site as well?
I
Side note: That's not a crazy amount of changes to need* a site purge, but I fully believe that sites should be purged every now and then similar to cell phones and other electronics. I a good reboot is good for the soul.
That is our Press website (we were a book publisher before we opened the bookstore). It is not hosted by Square. We use Woo Commerce/WordPress through another hosting company.

I'm wondering and slightly leaning toward if the SEO from that Wordpress site, is messing with the SEO title for the Square site.
