Combining a Store site with a website

I was just asked to run the website for a non-profit.  Since they were using Square for their donations/payments, I thought it best to keep the website here.  I created the site, but when I tried to copy over what they had in their simple online payment store, I couldn't get the cart to carry over with it.  I'd love some help to merge this all into one site.  If you want a better idea of what I'm talking about, go to beside-stillwaters.org.  The Donations and Payment page actually takes you to a separate site, which is the one the organization had set up previously.  I'm trying to just create a copy of the site you see when you go to Donations and Payments as a page on the main site.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @beside-still!

Thanks for reaching out to the community on this, and apologies if there has been any confusion about the sites you’re working with and what you’re hoping to achieve.

Looking at the site https://www.beside-stillwaters.org/ I can see that you are redirected to the external site https://taylor-family-foundation-inc.square.site/ when you select the header navigation link for DONATIONS & PAYMENTS.

From what you’ve told us, I’m working on the assumption that you created https://www.beside-stillwaters.org/ and as you weren’t sure how to create a page with the product information, you created an external navigation link to the existing site: https://taylor-family-foundation-inc.square.site/

Based on what I see when I visit https://taylor-family-foundation-inc.square.site/ - the product that you would like to offer is a retreat which requires the pre-payment of a $250 refundable deposit, a $250 payment for the stay, a $25 application fee and a $125 cleaning fee. You also want to offer the option to donate to the organization or the cleaning team on the same product page.

Looking at the external link, it appears the original creators will have added the products on a ‘Featured Item’ section. You can add a section like this to your site by following the steps here. There's also a handy video that highlights ‘Featured Items’!

Once you’ve done that, you can either delete your Navigation Link, or change it so that it redirects to a Standard Page for example, rather than an external link. You can check out this article for advice on managing your navigation links.

I hope this helps, but if I’ve missed the mark on what you’re trying to achieve here, please just let me know and we can take another look.

Looks like "stillwater.org" is hosted on "Squarespace" which is not the same as Square.   You can use Square to process transactions which is what the organization appears to be doing.  I also see that Jotform is also being used - you can use Square to process your Jotform transactions.   What you can't do is merge a Squarespace site with a Square Site as they are two separate services.  From what I tell at this point probably your best option is to stick with Squarespace and Jotform, then update the Squarespace site for your needs and continue to use Square as your transaction processor.

Thanks so much for your help, @Sineaid. You are correct in the assumption you're working from.

I attempted to add a featured items section on it's own page earlier.  I basically recreated the site: https://taylor-family-foundation-inc.square.site/ and named it "Store" for now.  You can see it here on the site I'm trying to clean up. https://www.beside-stillwaters.org/ I just published that page again so you can see it.  The problem I'm having is that I don't see the Shop Now button or the cart on the page that I created named "Store".  I believe if can solve that problem, I'll be able to then delete the external link and rename my "Store" page "Donations & Payments".  Can you tell what I may be missing in trying to get that cart to show up?

Thanks for updating and re-publishing the site, the edits look great @beside-still!

Looking at the Homepage and Store Link, indeed I can see the Shop Now Button and Cart Icon are not being displayed. From your site editor, you can opt to toggle these buttons and icons on or off. Just select Header

Then scroll down to Content to toggle on the Button and select Cart Icon to be displayed.

@Sineaid I believe I've got it now!  If you don't mind taking a final peek at https://www.beside-stillwaters.org/ and see if it looks functional to you, I'd appreciate another set of eyes on it.  Looks like I can go to the donations and payments page, add things to the cart, and then checkout from there.  Thanks so much for your help!!!!!

The site is looking really slick and uncluttered now @beside-still, a much better user experience on all counts - Kudos on the great work!

One thing I note on the Payments & Donations page is that you appear to have a featured products template, with a ‘View Products’ button that’s not redirecting. It could well be that you’re working on this as I’m viewing the site, but if that’s not the case I’d suggest deleting the section and republishing the site. Other than that, you look good to go.

It goes without saying that if you need any more help with it, just tag me here. And if not, I hope to see you again here in the community at some point!
