Can I add a QR code to event order confirmation emails to use for guest check-in at the event?

I see QR codes can be used to ID customers at checkout.  But how can I use a customer-connected QR code to check-IN a customer to an event, that, presumably, links the the order number the customer received with their ticket-purchase confirmation email?

 

We are using Weebly/Square to sell tickets for an event.  After buying their ticket online, the customer receives an email confirmation/receipt with an order number.  We'd like to have that order number produce a unique QR code that also appears on the confirmation/receipt email.  Then, on event day, the customer provides their QR code that we can scan to check the person into the event.

 

Can this be done?  Are there any Square apps that would be required to read the code?  Can that app integrate with a database that can show who has arrived and who hasn't?

Interesting requirement - it may be possible that you can find a Developer who can code the function you have in mind.   Another option is to check through Square's Market Place - there are several 3rd party Apps that deal with tickets and events - seems they all offer ticket sales, management and Square Gateway connectivity for processing transactions.  It's possible one of these Apps can do what you have in mind or close to it.  It's worth a look.
