URL redirect not working properly

Hi all,

I've come across a bug regarding the URL redirect feature.

The issue:

I've got a simple page with a URL /recipe. I don't ever want this page to be accessed, but rather be directed to the /s/story page. FYI this is one of square online's premade pages. So by achieving this, I go to the /s/story page settings and enable URL redirect, and simply input the page I want to redirect to s/story.

This works as intended when I'm on the home page. Meaning when I'm already on the homepage and I click on the "recipes" link in my navigation menu - it redirects me to the /s/story page.

However, this does not work when I'm on a custom made page. For example, when I'm on the food information page, clicking on the "recipes" link in the nav menu does not redirect me to my /s/story page, but rather to the /recipes page. Only upon refreshing the page I then get redirected to the intended page.

Let me know if clarification is needed. Here is my site to understand what is going on: https://www.unclefunk.com.au

Many thanks,

Branden

Hey @unclefunk,

Apologies for the belated reply, I was out of office yesterday - I can see the issue you're seeing here.

Just want to check you've not raised this with our support team in the meantime? Let me know, I've pinged our eCommerce team in the meantime to check if there is a known issue here too.

By the way, your samabl sauce looks absolutely delicious, I think I may have to order some myself!

I am not sure if this question is for this section but i need to be able to redirect clients to my website after they have completed and order or made an appointment via square. Is that possible and if so, how?

Hey @janiemac,

At this time, it's not possible to redirect to a different site after a purchase, or a booking has been completed. I think this is a great suggestion, and is currently a feature request with our product team!

Hello, I'm having issues with the redirects just not working at all. We switched from a Godaddy website and are trying to redirect the clicks for those products to the new ones in square. Each click gets us nowhere. They don't redirect

Hey there, @tragur 👋,

Sorry to hear you're running into this issue!

From what you've described, it sounds like you're adding a single redirect link for each individual item page, is that correct?

While it's possible to do this for all items, it's worthwhile reviewing the limitations around setting up URL redirects via our online guide. I've made a reference to these below for quick viewing:

1. At this time, we only support one redirect per page.

2. There are some URLs that may not work with redirects, such as “mybusiness.com/pages/picture.jpg” or “mybusiness.com/document.pdf”.

3. URL redirects are only viable if you’re using the same domain name with Square as the one you used with your old host. If you’re using a completely new domain with Square, individual pages on your old site using the old domain can’t be redirected to your new Square Online pages using the new domain.

If none of the above applies, please let me know in your reply and be sure to include some examples that I can pass on to my team.

We've setup several redirects from our old site to match the new site and they just aren't working. Any assistance here would be appreciated. For example:

https://www.tragur.com/shop/ols/products/goblin-bamboo-t-heel-hook

to

https://www.tragur.com/product/odor-resistant-bamboo-viscose-t-shirt/11

Hi there, @tragur - I noticed you posted about this issue twice.

I went ahead and merged your duplicate post to this existing thread where your first post is located. We merge duplicate conversations together to keep like comments in one place, and to make it easier for others to find the thread in the future. I also want to make sure you've seen our Community Etiquette Guidelines. We ask Seller Community Members to not post the same message in multiple places, as it is not productive for our Moderators.

Please see the reply from @Laurie_ . Thank you!
