Discount Stacking

Please make a feature where we can prevent discount stacking!!! We are losing money and so is square!  our loss is significant so im sure square's would be also.  Do we need to appeal to someone who is concerned about Square's income from sales??

How has such a simple thing not been added?   Even woocommerce and other platforms have a single setting that says “don’t allow multiple discounts”.  For all the things square does missing something so basic is mind numbing to me. 

there are the reads going back to 2019 on this topic and it’s 2024 and y’all can’t add a simple setting to prevent multiple discounts from being applied?  Wow.  Just wow.  This needs to be prioritized 

Totally. This double stacking discount has to be figured out. Half the time you don't realize it till after the transaction. The Loyalty program should toggle to override all other discounts. Also I think the "Points after purchase" toggle is the fix to keep customers from claiming the discount AFTER the transaction, with points just earned. 🙄

I would like an update on this, please. I have removed my email coupon popup from my website because I have one item that is being discounted right now that if the coupon stacked I am actually losing money on the sale. This is inefficient if I need to do this every time I discount an item. Thanks

When is there going to be an update on this - coupon/discount stacking is a real problem.  In addition to this if you add a coupon to a text message and limit it (so that it is not redeemable online) the COUPON still says "Order Online" - bit POINTLESS and confusing to customers!

It would be nice if the issues of discount stacking could be resolved, it prevents us from using the auto discount function effectively with marketing discount vouchers. We have switched the auto-discount function off on the website to allow only marketing voucher use, which is a real shame as it would be nice to offer Omni channel, replicating what we do in out store. Having said we can not use the randomly generated discount codes in store and manually apply the discount voucher to over come stacking issues. Bit cumbersome and means we can not track the coupon redemption easily. Resolving the discount stacking is the missing link.

 

Having said all the above, I'm sure the logic coding to resolve the discount stacking will be complex. Good luck!

Why is still not fixed?  This is something that has been requested since 2019.  Please fix the issue with the double-stacking of discounts.  It's costing everyone a lot of money.

I also agree this is a NECESSARY feature. I am considering removing myself from the square rewards program because of it. I can afford to allow customres to redeem rewards on sale items that are already discounted. I hope this changes asap.

I have read many threads on wanting to stop discount stacking, and can see that Square has not addressed this concern since it was first asked back in 2019. Has anyone found a work around to stop this that's easy to implement?

Example: We have an automatic discount set up that gives 20% off certain items. They all have different price points. When scanned, item is given 20% off. Then employee will add a 10% Military Discount to the entire purchase. Even though we have trained them - repeatedly - to never add a discount to an entire sale, but each item individually, this still happens. So the sale items now have a 20% and 10% discount -  so 30% total off the retail price. How can this be stopped? I see the "maximum discount amount" option in percentage based discounts, but this is a dollar amount and as I stated, the items have different prices, so I don't think that's the answer.

I am just here to echo the thought that giving the operator the option to enable/disable discount stacking is absolutely necessary and it is shocking that it hasn't been developed yet.  When will this basic feature be added?
