PLAID??? "HELP US UNLOCK GREAT OFFERS!!" Yeah, right.

Help us unlock great offers!!

Connect your bank to improve future loan offers and eligibility."

You're supposed to be able connect your Square account using Plaid to your business banking account. Supposedly to help you get better loan offers. Well hell, how is this supposed to work? Anyone else used this???
I cannot get it to connect. And yes, my banking institution will allow it. But for whatever reason, I get this close {__________} and it starts all over again at the same dang login screen. I can't get anyone from Square to help; my bank says my account is fine from their end and NO ONE from Plaid apparently does not talk to anyone. So frustrating!!

Hello! Linking your bank account could help you access future offers by providing a more comprehensive view of your financial situation. This can be especially beneficial for those who frequently deposit checks, receive cash payments, or send invoices but prefer to use different payment methods.

It sounds like you might be experiencing a tech support issue. The problem could be something as simple as a service outage with Plaid or changes made to the website. I had a similar issue with my Credit Union, where my account was password-protected, and I needed to clear my browser cache or use a different browser after spending an hour on the phone with my bank to unlock it. Once that was resolved, I was able to connect successfully.

If you’re not facing any issues with your bank, try using a different browser to see if that helps. Since Plaid acts as an intermediary, I’m not sure how much Square can assist with tech support on this issue. Did you post this in the general topics or the community thread? I apologize for not being very tech-savvy, but I can tag others who might have more knowledge on this topic. Let me see if I can find a couple of people who can help! @ryanwanner @homeprogreen @VanKalkerFarms  any thoughts here?

As a few said, Plaid can be flaky depending.  I have had it work great and not work at all.  I recommend just going out and trying again, most of the times it is a verification thing with the bank having to text/email a code etc.

Unfortunately my bank doesn't support plaid so I am always typing in routing and account numbers.

From what I understand they are just a way for any company, Square in this case, to have formated access to your accounts.  So I don't know that Square can help if Plaid is failing to connect.

Thank you, from my experience with it, and that was 4x here before it took but that was my Credit Union and protecting my account. The bank has to be open to authorize me to unlock it for some time. I just wanted to double-check! Thank you!

Plaid is basically a computer middleman between your bank and different companies. Nothing that your bank or Square can do to make it work. Couple of different things that you can try to get it to work but no guarantee. Try clearing your web cache and cookies in your browser, you might have something in there that’s incorrect and it keeps reloading it. Try a different browser. Look and see if there’s a way to manually enter your routing and account number so it bypasses Plaid. If I remember correctly it shows you a list of different banks that you can select from (which use Plaid) and at the bottom it used to show a link that says something about bank not shown, click that link and it should take you to the page that lets you manually enter the account information

Hi @Mansellmc

Sorry to hear about your situation.

If you’re unable to find your banking institution with the bank selector tool, it currently isn’t supported by Plaid. Unfortunately, not all banks are supported at this time, and you’ll need to link a supported bank. Please note, you will be unable to link your Square Checking or Savings account as we are requesting only external bank accounts be linked to help us learn more about your business.

Please contact us directly, our Square Loans line is open between 8am-5pm PT Monday-Friday if you want to give us a call.
