I agree @ts4, we sometimes have comps or customer service issues, or people that pay part of a bill and never pay the rest. Being able to update an invoice for $0 would be super useful.
If I know it is $0 up front, I will usually do it through POS, and then just add the customer, but yeah, once it is an invoice, it HAS to be either rung up or deleted/archived.
Another thing is being able to adjust invoices to reallocate them to a different employee.
We are looking into Quickbooks and other providers to gain some of that flexibility back.

I agree completely with the OP and the other people on that side of the fence.
Why can we not exceed $50K per invoice?? Is this not a system for professional businesses?
50K and 46K is bad enough, but I am trying to send out an estimate for a government job at almost 400K, do you expect me to send out 8 partial quotes??
That is absolutely preposterous, and seems completely irrational to suggest.
$50K, $50K, $50K, $50K, $50K, $50K, $50K, $21,200
That seems childish and absurd for a company that I pay OVER $10K in fees and surcharges to per year.
Maybe I should look into giving that money to another business that will support me making large sales. 🤔
That is not an acceptable answer, need a solution. Please advise on how to run contracts over 50K with square. It’s not practical to have 2 different processing systems for the same line of business with various contract amounts.
All Square merchants have a per transaction limit of $50,000. Like card-present transactions, Square doesn’t have transfer limits for card-not-present transactions. Funds are typically transferred the next business day.
If you plan to accept payments of more than $50,000, you’ll need to split the payment into multiple installments. Make sure to note the installment number and total in the payment receipts for your records.

Since Square is more so a Credit Card Processor, you may need to use your accounting software, such as QuickBooks to send an Estimate or a work around would be to send out an Estimate - Download an Estimate Document in any of your Word Processing programs that you use like (Word, Google Docs etc.) Then send the ESTIMATE to your customer. Make sure the Estimate has a Invoice Number on it. Now when you get the job just remember that Square can only process up to $50.000 at a time for a Credit Card, so you payments and Bills may have to have 2-3 Credit Card Transactions. Now if you take Cash or a Certified Check for the payment of this transaction none of the $50,000 limit should be a factor From Square since it is not a Credit Card transaction.
Have been fighting this same issue, We can't even create an estimate for 50K, not sure where these others can do so , I understand the 50k transaction limit but my invoice or estimate should be able to be whatever dollar amount I chose and I can run payment as installments, This is so frustrating! I have talked to square and they opened a "ticket" . we will see
Square has a transaction limit of $50,000 therefore the system willnot allow you to create an estimate for higher than this as estimates turn into invoices that will later be run as a charge. @Candlestore has the best answer when it comes to creating an invoice for over $50,000.

Square, instead of making two invoices Part 1 of 2 for 49k and Part 2of 2 for 12k how can I make a single invoice with different amounts charges it looks very sloppy to have 2 invoices and the clients get very confused
