I’m currently 16 and work for my friend. I cannot accept payments on Square. After reading forum pages it sounds like if one of my parents makes a square account, they get the logged hours, then give me the money (linked banked child account, etc). I was wondering if this would make it seem as if my mom made more money than she actually does, and affect how she pays taxes. I’m not sure if I explained this well, but basically I just want to know the easiest way I can take payments via square.
Thank you for your time.
@Logan_ ;
There are a few questions I have for you?
If you are working for someone else, you would need to find out in your area what the laws are for minors working. The person you are working for should have payroll setup to Pay you by your SS# and would not mess up your parents taxes. You would get your own W-2 from your friend. So you as an employee would be signing into Square as an employee of your friends business. You may need to call Square Support on Monday to see if as an Employee you can set up a Square Bank account. Their phone number is in my signature line.
I know where I am there are somethings I can not hire mionors to do, anyone under 18.
What type of Square account are you trying to setup? Employee or Employer? From your discription it sounds like an employee account, which would not be taking payments yourself but for your friend that has hired you. I think you might be mixing up detaials between being an employee (you) and employer (your Friend). You do not need a Square Bank account to be an employee and can use an exsisting bank account to have funds deposited to from your friend.
