Ok. I’ve started moving everything to square banking. Then I hit a wall. A 100 ft high one. My office landlord requires ACH transfers or a paper check to pay my rent.
Please tell me there is a way to make ACH transfers to 3rd parties from Square checking. I’ve set up my other monthly obligations to go through the debit card, but in this case, I am required to initiate a bank to bank transfer for my rent.
Can businesses use the Square Cash app for this?
Am I going to have to set up a separate business account just to pay my rent?
I had this same exact problem! But yes, Cash App is your solution! You've gotta create an account and link your Square Debit card - but it takes all of 5 minutes. And then you can send money to your landlord or whoever else.
Thanks, Emily! It's a little bit bulky, but I'll give it a try.
Ok, 3% is not going to work for me. That's even higher than the instant transfer fee... but of course we can't ad another bank account.
I'm going on chat with them now to see if I can solve this. I'm not sure opening up another business account is worth it and I may have to abandoned Square as a bank and just use them for processing. Ugh. They were so close.
I hear you! I think it's fairly new and hopefully we'll see some improvements in the future. In the meantime, maybe try Melio to pay rent? I've used them in the past with no fees 🙂 Hope you get this ironed out soon.
Yeah, the only problem is, they don't take Square Accounts and the Square account numbers don't match up with Sutton Bank numbers, so how did you do this without taking a 3% hit by doing it by debit card?
I've got mine connected to my Square Account... what kind of error message are you getting that's telling you Square isn't supported? If you go into you Square Balance, you should see "Transfer Settings" under the gear in the top right. I used that routing and account number to add a payment method to Melio. Is that what you've tried?
Well before I could get that far with Melio, someone from the company started calling me and texting my mobile phone without my permission. I didn't answer the call from New York, but this was the message they sent:
"Hi Ken. Just missed you. Touching base since I wanted to provide more information about Melio and answer any questions you have. Do you have a moment to connect? I’m free now if you are. If not, you can schedule a time that works for you here: (link to schedule a meeting I didn't ask for)."
That's what's called an unsolicited affront and it's not the way to start a business relationship. I've decided to use another method.
Also, there is nowhere on the site that lets you cancel your account. So, I'm sure that's going to involve a lengthy phone call to get my company's information off their site on Monday. I haven't given them any of my banking information. I just want my address and phone number out of their system.
I do appreciate the tip, Emily. But Melio has left a bad taste in my mouth before I even got started. If they make it easy for my information to be removed from their system, I'll go away quietly. I hope they're smart and don't make me have flashbacks reminiscent of the AOL days where they made it difficult for anyone to leave. We'll see.
