walk in and appointment queue

walk in and appointment queue

We have recently switched to Square for credit card processing and are very impressed with the smooth point of sale process.  We would like use square appointments but our current online booking software has a feature that we are not willing to give up.

There is a bit of a language barrier - the "check-in screen" is actually for walkins to see that day's availability and make an appointment.  It is on an ipad by the door for customers to use when they walk in.

The queue is up on a big screen for the barbers to see who to expect next.  It shows 2 hours, refresh constantly and scrolls automatically.  WE LOVE IT.

Square, can you do this?

Status changed to: New

Hello, @Groompella!

Thank you so much for submitting this Feature Request! I've updated it to the "New" status. This step in the Feature Request process will be a time in which other sellers can add their use cases to your idea to make it stronger and demonstrate further how much it is needed in Square Appointments.

From the example you sent, this system seems pretty cool as it provides customers with a clear view of upcoming appointments and open slots making it easy to book. As a customer heading over to get a last minute haircut for the weekend I would appreciate this feature.

Later on, we'll re-visit the most popular feature requests and bring them to our product teams.

Thanks for your detailed feedback and request.

We would be willing to pay someone to develop this option.  anyone?

I must say this is such a powerful (and common) feature in every other salon scheduling tool, that I’m finding Square’s reticence to prioritize this as a top feature off-putting.

I have been using Square Appointments for the last three years, but I’m seriously looking for other options. I’m tired of the Square products team being unable to understand such as a simple (and powerful) thing as a must have.

YES!

I think this feature would be brilliant and I actually wanna add sort of an add-on to benefit those walk-ins and same day call ahead bookings/reservations. I found a feature in another booking software that allows for you to send a link for them to confirm the appointment. I think the feature that you all are talking about is amazing And I also think that having the ability to send someone a link to lock in their appointment with a card once they call in gives our providers the extra security of knowing that someone who called ahead is actually going to show up

@LadyJBeauty Square sends an Ai message asking for confirmation.  If you do not see that, maybe it's not turned on.

So it does send a confirmation, but I haven’t seen it send a link for them to put their card info in just like they would if they were to book an appointment on their own as opposed to the same day call ahead. The way the software that I’m referring to works is: if they call in I start the appointment so that there is no question as to what they are booking and then it just sends them a link to confirm it with their card information. I’m a Nail Tech so sometimes people call in and they’re not sure exactly what to book so that allows me to build the appointment on the phone and then send it to them to confirm it with their payment information. If square  is already doing this, that’s amazing. I will go book an appointment for myself to trigger the message to come out and see if it’s a similar function. I’m just looking for ways to optimize walk ins also and I think both of these ideas together could be really helpful. I’m not sure how it is in the Barber world, but sometimes in the nail world, people will call in and say they want to come in an hour, but then they don’t show up. I want to be able to protect my staff from that because it’s frustrating of course When you tell someone else who calls in that they can’t come in an hour because the only person that would’ve been able to take them also has someone coming and then they don’t show up
