square appointments app wont recognize square terminal

Am I misinformed here?

 

I just unboxed the square terminal. It will login to appointments directly from the terminal. I want to connect the terminal to the square appointments app on my ipad, but it doesn't come up as an option in the hardware section. Not on my phone or ipad. It only shows up in the POS app. How do I send checkouts to the terminal through square appointments from my ipad?

Hi @ShopMoonrise.  It sounds like you received some incorrect information from someone.

 

The Square Terminal works in one of three ways — as a standalone POS for the Standard POS, as a standalone POS for the Square Restaurants POS, and as a connected terminal to receive customer payments for Standard POS, Restaurants POS or Retail POS.  Connected Terminal mode currently has not been implemented on the Square Appointments POS, and I’ve not heard of a schedule for this to be added to it.

Hello @ShopMoonrise, I am sorry you are having issues accessing appointments through your Terminal. Appointments is a feature that has recently rolled out on Terminal. Before using Square Appointments on Square Terminal, you’ll need to update your device software to the latest version. I suggest looking through the support article linked above. If you are still having issues please reach out to our support team at

Thanks @MayaP.  Call me crazy but I did not get that memo!  Ha.  I honestly had no clue, because I haven’t seen an announcement on the Updates Board, that Appointments was a new feature of Terminal.  That is very cool, and please accept my apologies @ShopMoonrise for the incorrect part of my reply.

No worries @TheRealChipA ! I honestly had to double check myself because I wasn't seeing an announcement anywhere either. I am so happy we were able to implement this feature.  This was an easy miss, so don't apologize for anything. Just an update @TheRealChipA , I am asking if we can get an announcement here in the community on this feature. I am waiting to get a reply back if that will happen. I was told though not every team publishes an announcement for every launch. Just something to keep in mind moving forward. If we end up making an announcement I will reach back out and let you know!
