When I check out a client and go to take a payment there is no option to swipe a card and have my terminal receive it. Only cash, manual or gift card are options. I need it to show in my clients history of transactions so I need them to be able to swipe. How do I add this?

To clarify which Square device are you using to take the payment? Is it the Square Terminal?
Yes square terminal
The swipe option is on the side of terminal, you do not need to enable any setting for that. Once you add your items to check out and click charge, on the next screen where it provides your payment options you would swipe the card. When you do that what happens @Jode412?
I should clarify, I’m using a laptop for my square homepage, appointments and such so that is where I’m clicking to check people out. My terminal is connected to the laptop so it should allow me to take credit card payment on the terminal.

At this time, Square Magstripe Readers are only compatible with macOS and Chromebooks.
However, if you have a Square Terminal then you would need to use the Virtual Terminal to be able to process a payment with a Connected Terminal.
