Reverting to old inventory libraries- anyone else have inventory issues?

We've used Square Retail for 8 years now. Inventory items and counts are SLIPPERY. Constantly changing. My suspicion is a few times a year Square reverts to older saved versions. Maybe a server goes down, and a backup server takes over.

Today a VERY OLD product we haven't had in YEARS showed up without online description and at full original inventory (we sold these down years ago).

Here's the photo from our square register.

Our issue is the inventory is constantly fluctuating and there is NO WAY for us to get inventory stable.

Last week a customer bought 5 bracelets online that we haven't had in months.

Hey @DinaLRosenberg .

Sorry to hear you are having issues again.   I remember you had a complete inventory fiasco several months ago.   That can't fun, and neither can this.

I'm wondeirng if you ask the Managerbot for the complete history of this item, it might be able to identify what happened???

Just a thought.

Our inventory is an ongoing nightmare. NIGHTMARE.. counts are inconsistent.. and because we can't catch them in real time it's hard to get information to engineering that is actionable. We also have 1,000s of items and were told that the square inventory system wasn't DESIGNED for that many items.

Honestly- I really don't know what's happening. Nothing really ever changes and it seems retail isn't the focus- restaurants is.

We deleted the item (because if we have it in the system, it runs the chance of inventory being ADDED as inventory counts change at will)- you see the dilemma we're in?

This is also NOT an IPA (income producing activity). In fact it's a complete and utter time suck to try and run interference on a system that should just.. well.. work.
