We are using pre-orders this holiday season. Are there any best practices you have discovered which you can share.
One issue we have encountered is we sell advent calendars and when they pre-order the calendar they sometimes add other items to the basket which is great, the only problem is we do not know what the customers expectation is with shipping the addons, will they wait for the pre-order item ship out or do they want before which will incur a second delivery cost. The Calendar is to be shipped within the date range given in the pre-order, but the other items I'm not sure about. We can not ship earlier this would require two sets of shipping costs but the customer has only paid for one.
We do not want to limit the pre-order quantity as sometimes customers order multiples advent calendars, and don't want to limit the other sales opportunities. Any ideas?
