Final site polishing

I've been working on my site for about 3 weeks now. I'm new to all this so, I had to take time to watch YouTube videos and such to get where I am now. Almost ready to publish my site, but I have just a few more issues to resolve before I go live.

The first is order drop-offs. My business is knife sharpening. I work out of my apartment. My wife also works from home doing hotel reservations on the phone. I cannot have my phone ringing all the time while she works. So I want my customers to set up a drop-off time where I can meet them outside. This is only temporary until I buy a vehicle and build a mobile workshop. I'm also going to set up some lockers outside for anyone I miss as well.

To do this I set up knife sharpening as a service in my product list. Once they indicate how many knives they want to have done, they can set a drop-off time from the shopping cart. This all works so fine, from my features items list. But my knife sharpening service is not showing up when a potential customer uses the navigation button for Online Shopping. What did I do wrong?

Like any website worth the time and effort on doing, you need content. I can't find any YouTube videos or How-to's for adding stories that also include citing reference material and embedding video into the story as well. (is that even possible?) Suggestions?

For three hours I tried to fix this again tonight. I set up my main service which is knife sharpening. This works fine from the Featured Items list but doesn't appear while in preview mode for Online Shopping. It does show on the edit page of the Online shopping editor though. I'm confused....and VERY frustrated.

Two things to check. 1) Did you make the item "visible" on the website (I'm sure you did but it's like asking if it is plugged in) and 2) This one always gets me. Check to make sure that the category is visible on both the item side and the ecommerce side. Sometimes I have the wrong product category chosen. I'm not sure what happens if you don't have categories.

Also make sure you "publish" your changes.

I'm lost! I was trying to create different categories of knives I can sell. Per Square TOS I'm restricted to culinary knives, multi-tool or Swiss army style knives, and folding knives with a blade of 3.5" or less. At the very least I wish to offer culinary knives. Which I designated a category of "kitchen knives". I two more categories that include are "Multi-tool" and "Utility" the later meaning folding knives. Eventually, I'll be eliminating the multi-tool and utility categories and dividing culinary knives up into sub-categories.

From my main item list I can see the three test physical knives I'm selling and my knife sharpening service.  When I open an item from the list to edit it, the very top box is "TYPE". In this case, it's a choice between a physical item or a service. Although I remember creating those other categories I can't find where on the item it's entered.

Regarding the second comment: I'm not ready to publish it yet. Once I get this "bug" sorted out, I still need to add an about page along with some content in the form of stories. After that is completed and I think things are looking good I'll do a soft publish so folks here can critique my site before I link it to a Facebook Business page, Google Business listing, Yelp, and Instagram Business pages.
