Barcode/Label printing no longer available on Square Plus

I recently switched from Square Retail Plus to Square Plus and was unpleasantly surprised to learn that I am not able to print labels under the new plan.  This was not one of the processes that I was told I was lose when switching.  It appears the only way I can access this is by switching to Square Premium which would cost me $100 more per store?

There appears to be some confusion about barcode label printing capabilities with your Square Plus subscription.

 

Good news! Barcode label printing is available with Square Plus. Our official pricing page and this Support Center article confirm this feature is included in the Square Plus plan. You don't need to upgrade to Premium to regain this functionality.

 

Why You Might Not See This Feature


If you're unable to access barcode label printing after switching from Retail Plus to Square Plus, you may need to complete the following: 

Set up Advanced Inventory Capabilities 

- Instructions are available in this Support Center article.

 

Create, assign and switch to the Retail Mode on your Point of Sale device

- Instructions are available in this Support Center article.

You’re right — native barcode/price label printing is only available in Square’s Retail Plus (and Premium) plans right now, so if you switch to just Square Plus you lose that built-in feature. 🙁 Square

If you still want labels without upgrading, a couple options are using a third-party label creator app (some work with Zebra/DYMO printers and your SKU exports) or standalone label software that prints from your inventory export and then scans back in Square. Square will still scan those barcodes at checkout even if they weren’t generated in the app.  Maybe check out a few of those because I believe a couple may start at $9.99/month...that's cheaper than an extra $100...hopefully this helps a little 🙂
