Terminal will not charge using standard 5v USB charging systems

My Terminal will only charge using the provided charging power pack and cable. Is this a designed feature or is there a problem. It would be great to be able to recharge from a power bank!

Thank you for reaching out 👋

We recommend charging the Square Terminal with the supplied cable from a power outlet in order to ensure that it's getting an adequate power supply. That's why you might have trouble charging it from a power pack!

That sort of defeats the purpose of terminal being a mobile device...

Even if the power supplied  by a third party USB charger or even a cigarette lighter in the car is lower than what the unit  needs it should be able handle just being trickle charged. 

The day will come when I forget to charge it and need to use at a clients place, almost as bad as the constant updating when the unit is turned on...
