Online square gift cards - how do I pass on the fees to clients?

When people buy gift cards online I lose $$ in fees as less is deposited into my account per gift card. How do we set up the system so that the person purchasing the gift card online is charged the fees at time of online purchase?

Hi @MelElements,

Thanks for reaching out with your question, and welcome to the Community!

We've recently launched the Card Surcharges Beta, which is available to all Australian Square Sellers for in-person payments. While we currently don't support surcharging for online payments, we recognise the demand for this feature and will make a public announcement once we have more information to share.

At the moment, automatic surcharges are applied to the sales of eGift Cards via your point of sale. As an alternative, you could consider removing the option to purchase eGift Cards online altogether and sell them exclusively in-person.

Another possible workaround is to include the processing fee in the eGift Card pricing through your Gift Card settings. However, please keep in mind that this may complicate your in-person eGift Card sales, so it's worth weighing the benefits to your online sales before making any changes.

If you have further questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out!
