I need to change my trading name (not my ABN) due to a trademark issue. I have a couple of questions:
How can I manage e-gift cards that my clients purchased before the name change? Will they still be usable under the previous business name?
What information do I need to update? I have a client database spanning three years of business operations. Am I correct in assuming I only need to change the trading name?Thank you in advanced.

Welcome, @Aurora_99 โ nice to see some new faces popping up! ๐
I'd be happy to help answer your questions!
1. eGift Cards and Existing Balances
Your existing eGift Cards will still be valid and usable by your customers, even after you update your trading name. The value of those cards is linked to your Square account, not the visible trading name. However, it's a good idea to notify your customers about the name change to avoid any confusion when redeeming gift cards.
2. What You Need to Update
You're correct โ if your ABN is staying the same, you only need to update your trading name in the relevant parts of your Square account. Here are the key areas to review:
Business Name (Settings > Account & Settings > My business > About)
Public-Facing Name, like on receipts or invoices (Settings > Account & Settings > Payments > Receipts)
Square Online site branding, if applicable
eGift Card branding (you may want to update the design or messaging)
Social media or marketing integrations, if youโve linked those through Square
Your customer records and transaction history will remain unchanged, even after you update your business name.
I hope that helps! Let us know if you have any more questions.
