Hi I am trying to turn off the need to use a passcode on the new square stand using Square Retail. All of the tips I have found seem to be out dated. Is there a way to deactivate the need to use a passcode?

While the option to disable passcodes won't come up in your Square for Retail app, you can use the standard point of sale app to turn passcodes off. Follow these steps:

Hi Arie thanks for reply. That doesn't work. In standard Square app passcode toggle is already off. No passcode is needed in the app but when you use the retail app you still need passcode. So frustrating. Any ideas?

Just to ensure I'm on the same page with you here, are you referring to the four-digit passcode to access secure areas of the Square Account (for example, Reports or Balance), or are you talking about the device code?
The device code essentially replaces the need to enter an email address and password when logging into your Square for Retail app. There is often a bit of confusion around the difference between passcodes and device codes, particularly if you've added Team Members to your account with their own logins, so I just want to be certain we're talking about the same code here.
Additionally, when you are navigating to your Security > Passcodes page in the retail app, have you tried enabling and then disabling the passcode function? While it doesn't work every time, sometimes this little trick resolves the kinds of issues you're seeing.

I am talking about the passcode to access secure areas. In particualr wanting to change a sale or delete an item from the register at the sales stage it just adds another frustrating step.
In the Square Retail Dashboard.. it only gives me the option to change the passcode.. no option to disable. In the Square Reatil app .. there is no option at all for security and passcode options.
In the standard Square app.. the passcode toggle is off and in this app.. it doesn't require the passcode to make changes.
The issue for me is the Square Retail app.. where it seems to want the passcode for changes.

I'm a bit at a loss here as the steps we've already provided in this thread are the only way I know how to disable the passcode setting on an individual device.
These steps for disabling passcodes are consistent across all Square apps as well.
