how do I change the type of store

Hi,

I am new to square and just trying to get my head around setting up the home page.

I'm not sure if it's something that I have selected and saved but for some reason I am being asked to add a menu? Is this correct for every store or just food stores?

Working on the assumption that the 'menu' is generic and trying to load an item is is showing that the item is under a sub category 'prepared food and beverage'.

My store, however, is a specialist store but I am not selling food. I am selling upholstery trims and tassels!

Is there any way that I can change what type of store it is?

Hopefully someone get's what I am on about! Thanks

OK, first question - are you sure you’re in the right place? You’re setting up a Square Online Store (not Squarespace…..) right?

Have you got a link to your site, it would be easier to help if we can see where you’re at right now. There are two different types of options, one that’s a pretty standard type of online store with pages for each product & one that has light boxes for your products. However you can use either of the layouts for any product type so it shouldn’t be guiding you one way or another.

If you want to double check your setting, in the ‘edit site’ area click on the page option on the top left to show all your pages.
Click on the … next to “order online” then hit ‘switch page type’ for these options

By menu, do you mean a food menu? This may be something @Sam_400º could help you with.

However… here’s what I know about it from looking at sites using that setup:

You add the items available from your restaurant/cafe/bar/etc.

Customers can then use this as a way to order what they want online for pickup/delivery or however your setup works.

This saves them ordering from the bar or a waiter(ess) coming to the table to take an order.

I’ll leave it to @Sam_400º or @tranguyen to bring the full details on how this works and what you can do with it!

If you want to make your site an add to cart style you can try following a breadcrumb trail like this:

Dashboard - Online / Settings / Checkout / Advanced settings / Add to cart

—————————————————

If you mean the menu as in navigation, this is essential to all multi page websites as a way to get about.

If you want to see how the menu layout works I believe you can view that on https://400degrees.co.uk

For the ‘Add to Cart’ layout, that’s visible on

https://mjdonline.square.site

Hope I could help!
