Do Apple Pay and Google Pay work with Card on File?

Hello, I am trying to charge a customers payment card but they've paid through square using Apple Pay and their payment card has not been saved. Is there a way I can charge the card and claim the payment?

Hi @chris3992 👋

 

With Card on File, you’re unable to save contactless payment card or device information for sales completed with Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay.

 

In this case, you'll need to reach out to your customer to get their card details and manually add them to the system: 

 

  1. Sign in to your Square Dashboard and go to Marketing & loyalty > Customer directory.
  2. Select an existing customer. For new customers, create their profile before proceeding.
  3. Under Payment on File, click (•••) and choose Add Credit or Debit Card or Add Gift Card.
  4. Enter the required payment details, customer name, and/or customer email address.
  5. Click Save. Your customer will receive an email confirming that you’ve saved a card on file for them.
