Adding sections to item list pages

Hi all

I have items under categories. The category pages obviously link to a page with all those items in that category. The page with those items though is pretty basic and I can't seem to add any other sections to that page. Is there a way to add sections to a page showing all items in a category?  I want to have a section with text at the top detailing the category like most websites have but I can't.  If I add a standard page to be able to do that I can't then add all the items from a category.  Its kind of not allowing me to create the site how I want it to look

Thanks for your post, @frondere! It sounds like you're looking to show all others items within the same category, is that correct? 

If that's the case, there're a couple of ways you can set this up. The first is to enable the Similar Items section within the Item page.

This will show up to ten items within the same category at the bottom of the page. 

Alternatively, you can add a Featured Items section to your item page. This will also appear at the bottom and you can showcase up to four items within this section.

Hey tranguyen - thanks for replying. That's not quite what I'm after - I didn't explain very well!!! Basically I want to be able to add a text section to an item page so I can describe the items - eg I have a category called indoor plants - the category then opens all the items in that category as a shopping page - I want to be able to put an image and a section of text at the top of that page- the items pages don't seem to allow that. Its a basic set template.  I'd like it to look like the below screenshot from another companies page

rather than the standard page which only allows this

If I choose a page template which DOES allow me to add sections with images and text, I can't add an ITEMS section

Ah, apology for the confusion @fronder! I thought you were looking at the individual item page and not the category page.

Unfortunately, that is a feature request at the moment — there isn't a way to add a text section under the category title. I'll be sure to share this with our ECOM team so they can look into this more.
