taking cash payments

I am a potential new Square user after getting burned by PayPal. I am a one-person company (organic dog treats) who currently sells mainly at farmer's markets and craft shows. The majority of my customers pay in cash, but I also accept credit cards (chip and tap). Can I do cash payments with a Square device?

Hello @Dogbaker1 ! Welcome to the Square Community! We're a lot cooler than that PayPal place. 😎

You definitely can accept cash payments via your Square device. Depending on the device you're using, you may see a screen asking for the customer to tap right away. If you do, hit the back arrow in the upper left to get to a list of payment types. Cash will be listed here. To disable the automatic Tap screen, on your device(s) go to More -> Settings -> Checkout -> Payment Types and switch the default to All Payment Types.

I do recommend enabling Cash Management on your device(s) to make reporting easier. Do that on your device at More -> Settings -> Cash Management (enable it if it's isn't already) and configuring it the way you like.

Hope this helps!
