We are a community theater. We are trying to track our tickets as they come into the theater. We would like to issue a qr code when the tickets are sold to the patron. Then we would like a way to scan the qr code from the ticket and have a way for that to go to our square system to track who has checked in to the theater and are present at the show. Does anyone know how to do that?
I do not think that is possible with Square.
You can create a QR code for someone to buy the ticket, but every receipt would just have that the a Ticket was bought. Each Ticket would only have the Identical Code.
The receipt can be scanned if the customer brings the Receipt with them for Unigue codes but then Square asks if a Return Or Refund is being used. The Barcode on the Receipt would be connected to the person buying the seat.
Below would be about the only work around I can come up with at this time.
Now if your Printer created a Unigue Barcode or QR code, on each Ticket you could create the Item at the time of sale. Assign the Barcode or QRcode as a SKU, and assign a Quntity of 2. Then when the Ticket is purchased it goes to 1, and when Scanned for use that night it goes to 0 as the Quantity. Just at the time of use you need to give a 100% discount or the square system would try charging again. Now if your Printer can give you these Barcode or QRcode values for each ticket, before your selling them, you could Upload these as Items to your Square catalog. Use Ticket with Printers Code for Item name, and just use the Printers Code as a SKU, Set the price in Sale field and Quantity to 2. Just scan the Ticket, the Price Pops up, and ask for Customer Information to fill in the Add customer information on the Square Sale. Then night of the Event you need all item to have the 100% discount applied so ticket holders are no charged again.
I hope this make sense.
