item import is adding variants

Hi - I imported my items via .csv file to Retail Plus and they all show up with 2 variants ?? Essentially the same shoe - just listed twice sometimes three. Why is this and how do I eliminate/delete the variants in bulk?

I'm curious: How did you resolve it? I'm working on inputting a whole new line of inventory and running into this issue right now.
