checkout link image not displaying

Hi, I created a new item and checkout link today but the item image that I uploaded is not displaying when I go to the checkout link url. Only the checkout text is displaying.  My images have displayed fine in the past. My image is 1020 x 1020, I've tried png and jpeg; I've cleared my cookies, rebooted my laptop and still no image showing. Please can you advise? thanks.

First of all, thank you for trying to resolve the issue and providing the troubleshooting steps you tried, that makes life much easier for us!

 

So, I just tried this out on my own account. When I uploaded an image to my items on my Square Dashboard, the checkout link did not show any image at all when I went to the item's checkout link. However, I then tried uploading the same image to the same item listed under Site Items on the Square Online Overview page. The checkout link image then appeared. 

 

Could you try uploading the image to the Square Online portion of your dashboard? To do so:

  1. Go to your Square Online Overview page.
  2. Click on Items > Site Items.
  3. Click on the item that needs the image. If it is not listed, you may need to add it by clicking Create a new item.
  4. In the Edit Item menu, upload the image in the box on the right-hand side of the screen. 
  5. Click Save

Thank you @k_atie . I'm not actually using Square Online yet, just the option to create a checkout link/button for an item, that I can then embed in my own website (hosted elsewhere). I'd created one for another item before and that image displayed fine.  I'm not selling multiple items yet so I haven't set up a Square Online site, but I'll look into that as a future option.

Thanks for clarifying that, @HJBB

 

So, you don't necessarily need to be using Square Online to be using checkout links. However, when setting up checkout links, we do require the Square Online portion of your account to be activated. Although they may seem like different functions of Square, they both occur online, so are very interlinked. Hence why you may need to change some settings within your Square Online Dashboard to see changes in your checkout links. 

 

Were you successful with any of the troubleshooting steps I provided above by any chance? ☺️

Hi @k_atie thanks again. Yes I've followed your troubleshooting steps and hurrah, the image is now showing on my checkout link. Thanks for your help 😊.

When you say 'we do require the Square Online portion of your account to be activated', what do you mean please? Do I have to have set up and published my Square Online website? or just made sure any items I want to sell are listed in my Square Online list of site items (without publishing my SO website?) Thanks for clarifying.

Hey @HJBB, apologies for the delayed response here. Glad to hear those troubleshooting steps worked out for you! 

 

As for the activation of the Square Online portion of your account, we mean navigating to your Square Online Overview page which will activate your ability to use checkout links. No need to have a published site or run through the setting of your website at all. Just make sure that all your items are synced to your Square Online Overview page.
