Would it be useful to apply service charges to all invoices?

Would it be useful to have the option to apply service charges to all invoices (just like taxes) and have the ability to remove when needed (just like taxes)? I'd like to have the ability to pass my processing fees on to my customers without it being a manual process for my employees. Having the ability to apply a service charge/processing fee across the board to all invoices would accomplish this for me. Currently, there is no option for this and applying a service charge is a manual process and my employees "forget" 95% of the time, so making this an automatic charge would solve this for me.

I personally prefer this route myself.  In my default invoice template I have the following in the message section

Thank you for your business. You will be able to pick up your vehicle the day following this invoice between 9 am and 3 pm.
Save 3% by paying this invoice with cash or check made out to Scorpion Coating Plus when you pick up your vehicle."

My Credit Card sales, have dropped slightly since I implemented this last year, obviously my cash and check sales  have increased.  When a customer is saving on average around $30, it's a no brainier.

I will say this though, I do not edit or change the invoice until the customer comes to pick up their vehicle.  I had a customer one time claim that they will pay cash/check etc.  So when I sent them the invoice after their vehicle was completed, I discarded the service charge only to find out they paid with a card later that night.  Lesson learned.

Hi @nolafitclub.  That capability already exists for Square Invoices.

First, go to your Dashboard -> Invoices -> Settings -> Invoices.  In the Templates section, you’ll see the default invoice template.  Select it and click the Edit button at the bottom.

Scroll down to the Line Items section, and click the “Add service charge” button. From here you can either choose a Service Charge you’ve already set up, or add a new one.  Then Save the template.

From here on, all invoices will automatically have the service charge applied to them.  Now, your employees will have to remember to remove it when it’s not needed!

Thank you! I had previously contacted Square and they didn't tell me this feature existed. They encouraged me to post on this format instead. I have already added it to my invoices, but I also would like the option to have it automatically added to my sales that are not generated through invoices. Thanks!

@nolafitclub You’re welcome. Glad to be of service.

fyi you can set it up so a service charge is automatically added to online sales. But not POS sales. That has been requested but I’ve not seen am update that it is in the works.
