The title of this thread has been edited from the original: WARNING when. selling your business with Square pos in place.
Do people realise that when selling your business, so much hard work with setting up your square pos system ... entering stock , direct debit , customer lists and the history with a touch of a finger the new owner can see their business grow . DO you realise Square does not allow you to pass this info on to new owner !!!!!!!!!!! ..
How dumb of Square . they will not at a touch of a finger change the ownership or the ABN
so frustration so stupid of Square total turn-off on such a great product .
why I went with buying Square in small business right ? so when building a small business new owner just walks in and its all done . But beware they won't give it to new owner .
don t I own it ????? can I not sell my good will my history
Hi @taylorscorner89,
Unfortunately, Square does not support transferring accounts with ABNs during the sale of a business because this disrupts tax reporting for new owners. If you’ve purchased a business from an existing Square Seller, you will need to create a new Square account with your new details.
It’s recommended that you also download the previous account’s sales history, and export the previous account’s item library, so you can import the existing items into your new Square account.
I can certainly appreciate your frustration, and will be sure to pass your feedback on to the relevant teams. If you have any questions or need support during this process, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us here.

Reply I don't agree this affects tax reporting for me the new owner , I know the date in which I purchased my business and I would only report my tax from that date that I started. Any idiot can work that out and everyone would certainly be checking their tax over before lodging their tax. Not a good answer
