when taking a payment other than cash and customer has a credit card wanting to pay and you as a vendor have a iPhone or iPad what is the best way for square to help with my business
if you have a later model iPhone ( iPhone XS or newer) then you can take contactless (tap) right on your phone with no additional hardware.
To take chip payments for cards that don't have tap yet you need https://squareup.com/shop/hardware/us/en/products/chip-credit-card-reader-with-nfc
If you want an all in one device that can take tap, chip and swipe and has a printer built in I love our Square Terminals. https://squareup.com/us/en/hardware/terminal
Hello @Towerman343 !
With an iPhone you can enable Tap to Pay right on the phone itself. You don't need to get any additional hardware to accept contactless cards. More info is available in this help file.
You can also get a contactless reader that will pair to your iPhone or iPad via bluetooth. I do not recommend the magstripe reader for payment processing: it's great to start with, but a few years ago the credit card companies did a liability shift for fraudulent transactions. If you swipe the card, you are liable for any fraud. If you tap or dip the card with the contactless reader, you stand a chance of fighting a chargeback.
Depending on the model of your iPad, Square also offers the Square Stand and the Square Stand Mount. Both come with onboard tap or dip options for payments.
So, in general, it really depends on what kind of business you run. Square has solutions for pretty much anything.
