We currently have a very strict network security policy. In order for my network team to whitelist the Square Register through our firewall, we need to provide them information.
I researched and found these three URLS and ports to whitelist:
- squareup.com:80
- squareup.com:443
- api.squareup.com:443
However, our network team is asking what information goes through these URLs and ports, specifically what kind of information goes through port 80, which is a HTTP port.
Any ideas?
Hi Heealexx,
That's an interesting question for sure and probably beyond the scope of this Community. Most of use are small business owners who have experience using Square from the end user side. You may want to visit the Developer's Forum as that's where more technical type stuff is discussed and questions posted. I'm guessing you already know that the encrypted info passed to Square are things like Sign In info, Declined Payments, Completed Payments and Refunds - as to what Port is utilized - that's way beyond any or most of us. If any of the Community members here have some thoughts, I'm sure you will hear from them. You may also want to contact Square's Tech Support - I don't know what details they may share but, at least worth a try.
