Using Square Register - Barcode scanned disconnects and reconnects randomly and persistently

I use the Square Register at one of my locations. I run multiple models of barcode scanners and have tried every single one I have and no matter what I get disconnect and reconnect issues when using a barcode scanner with the square register. I have tried taping in the USB connection and that helped a little bit. Should I just swap the USB/power connection hub for the register itself?

Hey there @DesertShop if you are having issues with your USB connections having trouble I would recommend reaching out to our hardware team so they can get a diagnostic report on the Register that is having the issue. By doing this they would be able to identify if a hub replacement is needed. Sorry about this experience.

 

@rfulk Thank you for sharing your experience and what helped you solve it. However, in this case, @DesertShop is using the Square Register which includes the reader on the Customer Display.

I have ran into that issue also.  The only conclusion I could come up with is the barcode scanner, chip reader and printer are pulling too much power and the barcode scanner kept disconnecting .  What I did that has solved the problem. I connected the chip reader to Bluetooth and plugged it into a wall charger.   That eliminated power draw in the usb hub and the barcode scanner is working good now.
