We are using the POS app on an iPad 4 / Square stand gen 1. Today we were unable to log into the app, just keep getting password error. No issues logging into account on a PC or an iPad 2. Up until today we have not been having issues. I notice there was an app update on June 30, 2022 and that the app is listing compatibility with ios v12 or higher. iPad 4 is ios v10.3.3. Will the app no longer work with this device?
@CryingLoon Is there something that keeps you from updating iOS on your iPad? Square POS definitely requires at least iOS12.
the iPad 4 is limited to iOS 10.3.3. We have been using the app on this iPad for over 7 years without (major) issue until today. I realize it is no longer compatible with the app, but when did this change? Thanks for the help.
I’m sorry to hear that. I didn’t realize that iOS 12 was the requirement now, either. But, it makes sense. Square is continuing to add features that rely upon advancements made by Apple and others. Having said that, which you already knew, I agree. Changes like this should be announced and not just sprung on us. I’ve said for years that each iteration of POS and other apps should come with a major announcement on these boards, especially if they are going to cause us to have to buy new hardware. Just saying…….. (Square?)
